1950s

When it All Began

When Ernest and Julio Gallo founded the Gallo Glass Company in 1958, they were launching a new era in bottle making. They had a vision for state-of-the-art glass manufacturing that would meet the needs of consumers while minimizing the impact on the environment.

1970s

Breaking Through the Turbulence

When many glassmaking factories were shutting their doors because of the energy crisis, Gallo glass was picking up steam. With the addition of two new furnaces, they we able to manufacture more bottles with five operating furnaces.

1980s

Thinking Smarter, Not Harder

With the rising environmental concerns over glass manufacturing, Gallo made its process more efficient and less wasteful. They invested in triple gob coolers and designed smaller bottles. They also switched from mechanical to computerized timing control.

1990s

Taking Oxy-Fuel Firing Full Steam

Many companies were researching effective methods for reducing NOx emissions, but Gallo Glass was a pioneer at making it possible on a larger scale by building their first cryogenic oxygen facility armed with electrostatic precipitator emissions control equipment.

2000s

A Clear Path for a New Era

The installation of modern equipment and processes gave a boost to the firing and manufacturing speed. With that Gallo was able to increase the overall quality, ISO and automation for bulk production while decreasing bottle weight.

2010s

Seeing a Sustainable Future

Throughout the decades, glassmaking has revolutionized for the sake of the environment and Gallo Glass is proud of what they’ve contributed. They continue their commitment to sustainability by maintaining state-of-the-art furnaces, modern manufacturing processes and control practices.
